Routes/Rides

See the descriptions and links below for some great Bay Area bike routes leaving from campus when possible.

Mt. San Bruno: 1200ft climb just a few miles from campus. Great local 20+ min climb. Perfect for SF State riders short on time and wanting to get some solid climbing in. This climb is also used for the first NCNCA race of the year, the San Bruno Mountain Hill Climb on New Years Day every year.

Hawk Hill and Marin Headlands: Just cross the Golden Gate Bridge and head West and play in the 5-10min climbs along the coastline!

Paradise Loop: ~45mi mostly flat/rolling loop. Leaving from SF State head over the Golden Gate Bridge, up through Sausalito, over Camino Alto, then head east towards Paradise Cove, then along the bay towards Tiburon, complete the loop and head back to SF State.

Alpine Dam: ~65mi loop w/ ~5,000ft of climbing. A true Bay Area Classic w/ amazing views and challenging climbs. Leaving from SF State head over the Golden Gate Bridge, continue north past Sausalito, turning south-west in Fairfax on Bolinas Fairfax Rd. Now the climbing starts, after a few miles Alpine Lake will appear on your left. After crossing Alpine Dam another great climb begins, as you exit the trees, the road levels just a bit and continue south along the Seven Sisters (Ridgecrest Blvd.). When you reach the Rock Spring Parking area you can choose to climb towards the West or East Peak of Mt. Tam or begin the decent towards Mill Valley and back home.

Roasters Ride: 95mi rolling loop from campus. This loop can be used for reference, but the "Roasters Ride" is a fast paced Saturday Group Ride that leaves from the GGB. Look it up on Google if interested in the group ride and where you can catch it.

Tuesday Night park Ride

POO (Port of Oakland) Ride: The POO ride is a Bay Area classic Tuesday Night Fast & Flat training group ride that does loops around the Port of Oakland. Many riders throughout the Bay Area come out for this one and even take BART after school or work to get there.
